Tax Freedom Day® 2015 is April 24 – The date when the nation as a whole has earned enough money to pay its total tax bill for the year.

114 days … 2015’s Long and Taxing Burden

  • Americans’ will pay $3.3 trillion in federal taxes and $1.5 trillion in state and local taxes, for a total bill of $4.8 trillion (31% of the nations income!)1
  • Americans’ will collectively spend more on taxes in 2015 than they will on food, clothing, and housing combined.1
  • Americans’ will work 43 days to pay federal, state, and local individual income taxes; 26 days for payroll taxes, 15 days for sales and excise taxes, 12 days for corporate income taxes and 11 days for property taxes. ( The remaining 7 days are spent paying estate/ inheritance taxes, customs duties, and other taxes).
